July 15, 2009 "Acoustic Model in the works"
#0005 will be an acoustic! we are currently developing the acoustic prototypes and hope to release a model in the near future. Stay tuned for the release date, and sign up for the newsletter to find out more updates on the process.

 

July 1, 2009 "Single Coil Pickups coming soon, plus new pickups Website"
In the next few month, we are planning the single coil launch date. Keep checking back. The first few prototypes sounded great and we are working on clips and videos for their release.

May 22, 2009 "New Pickups Released"
We are excited to announce the release of Porter P90 Pickups! Several upcoming guitars will have p90 pickups, so we have would some demo pickups with very killer results. You can now buy the Porter P90's on the website. For more information on models, check out the P90's page.

January 20, 2009 "What's coming up in 2009
We have a lot of exciting things planned for 2009, and hope to release more information about them in the coming months. We are working on the first few orders, and hope to start increasing our exposure this year locally and nationally. We are experiencing the headaches or trying to fund a business, but things are slowly moving forward.

 

November  6, 2008 "More Shop News"
We have been working hard to get the new shop set up how we like it. Just last week the spray booth has been set up, and we still have some finishing touches to make it operational. We are looking forward to a big 2009 as we now have our own space to make a go at this. Stay tuned for more news updates. If you haven't signed up for the newsletter, you might want to! September  6, 2008 "Shop News!"
As things stand right now, it looks like we will be getting our own shop. Borrowing space has been great to get started, but having my own place to make these is a huge step in moving forward. Look for more news about the new shop coming soon! We are stoked! Things will be on hold for a little while as we get our new place set up how we want it, and move everything in. We'll have some pictures up once it gets going!

July 7, 2008 "PG Forum Launches"
Our forums have just launched. They are a place for online discussion of Porter Guitars related things, and Everything Else. We welcome you to post a question in the "Porter Guitars" section, or start a topic in the "Everything Else" section. Just make sure you play nice, and contribute to the discussions. We are just getting this thing off the ground, so please take some time to register and let's start a great online community!

July 5, 2008 "New Website Page: Price Lists"
We are just getting started on our price list page. It will give you an idea of the costs associated with upgrading your guitars options. We have just get the groundwork laid for it, and it will be in more detail soon. Most hardware options are listed on the page as well as some different wood options. We are unable to give you an exact cost of wood upgrades, because of the ever changing price and difficulty of finding certain woods. We typically charge a minimum price for the wood upgrades. This is based on what we "Think" we can get it for. We have a great list of suppliers, but the more unique the piece the more it usually costs. If we can get a deal on it, we will pass the savings on to you! We have some good stuff in stock, so please ask us what we have if you are looking for something custom. July 2, 2008 "Family Update, No More Myspace"
Not guitar related, but much more important!. My wife and I are awaiting the birth of our son this month. The due date is July 19, so he could be coming anytime. Needless to say, I may not be getting much shop time in this month, or sleep. This may be the last update for a while, but we will see! I hope to get things rolling again in august. I will be at the shop on occasion before he arrives.

I have also decided to axe my myspace account. Many of you who have myspace know it's a great networking tool, but it can also be a place with a lot of dumb ads and people who would do anything for attention. With all the adds and the fact I'm not willing to wade through a bunch of crap to get to people I really want to network with, the Porter Guitars myspace will be closing down this month. Gone are the days, when we actually network face to face, or at least take time to email a person. I want to run my business with personal interaction with people and in a place (This website) where we can interact and talk about guitars, and other things.

Look for some improvements in that website area soon. I really want people to come here, and stay a while!
 

June 25, 2008 "Porter Pickup Update"
The release date for Porter Pickups is still up in the air at this point. We've had some revisions to our pickup winder and versions 1-3 have not been sturdy enough to handle the amount of winding we will do. Version 4 is on the way! Making a home made pickup winder takes some time to get everything right. We look forward to bringing you some really high quality pickups very soon! UPDATE: July 2: Pickup parts are coming in, and we hope to get winding soon!
