Tone in the Making At Porter Guitars, our guitars are made to order and each one will reflect that in the way it looks, plays and sounds. Each guitar can be customized in the woods, colors, and many other options. We have models only as a base of design for you to pick your custom options. We have a basic body and neck shape, and you pick everything else. With each model, you can choose everything from the specific woods on the body, neck, and fretboard, to the type of inlays and color of your finish and hardware. No more guitars with generic options. Each guitar features the Porter 4+2 Headstock (4 tuners on one side, 2 on the other) pictured to the left. Standard Models- Prices Start at $1,500

Standard models feature a wide range of solid colors. We start with alder bodies and quarter sawn maple necks, with your choice of maple or rosewood fretboard with black or cream inlay options. Standard Models feature chrome hardware and are available in two versions: Classic (Two Humbuckers) and Vintage (3 Single Coils.). Many shades of solid colors are available for these models. Standard Models offer over 80 different combinations of options. Standard models are also available as a transparent finish on alder or swamp ash for an extra $200. We also offer a standard hollow (See Below under Custom Hollow) starting at $1,750.

Elite Models- Prices start at $2,200

Elite models feature  your choice of 19 transparent finishes on highly figured flame or quilted maple top wood. We usually make Elite bodies with swamp ash, or mahogany, depending on your tonal preferences. We use quarter sawn maple necks, with your choice of Maple, Rosewood, or Ebony Fretboards. Inlay choices for the fret and side markers are white or abalone pearl, black or cream. Elite Models feature your choice of hardware  (Gold, Chrome, or Black) and are available in two versions: Classic (Two Humbuckers) and Vintage (3 Single Coils.).  With all these custom options, there are 1,920 different combinations of Elite Models you can choose.

Custom Hollow Models - $2,500

 

Custom Hollow Models feature semi-hollow construction with two f-holes. We typically will do the same woods as our other models, but it is not uncommon for us to use other exotic woods for these tops. What you get is a guitar with some good acoustic properties that can be used for jazz, blues and rock. The hollow chambers make it just a bit louder without an amp.  Custom Hollow Models feature chrome hardware and are available in the same two versions as Standard and Elite Models: Classic (Two Humbuckers) and Vintage (3 Single Coils.). Many shades of solid or transparent colors are available for these models. The Custom Hollow is also available in a Standard form, which is basically the standard model with semi-hollow chambers. Prices for the Standard Hollows start at $1,750.

 

 

 

Custom Shop

The Custom shop will feature new models of guitars under development as well as the place for our stash of unique woods to use on your guitar. We will have a page dedicated to the custom shop in the near future, so watch the email list to see what's coming out of the custom shop. Current plans for the custom shop are acoustic guitars and effect pedals. Custom electric guitars start at $2,700. A custom guitar is anything with a different body shape than our modes, different design features (Like bridge, carved top etc). Look for some pictures of our current custom shop projects soon!
